Book Verdict is an independent guide to books worth reading. Every recommendation is hand-picked and ranked by category, with a plain-language verdict on what each book is about and who it's for.

How we do things

We don't run sponsored placements and we don't invent star ratings, customer review counts or fake "test" data. A book's standing here reflects editorial judgement and its place in the canon of its category — nothing more, nothing less.

We only list real books by real authors with real first-publication years. When we aren't sure of a detail, we leave it out rather than guess.

Covers

The cover artwork across this site is generated typographically from each book's title, author and category. It is not the publisher's cover art — we don't reproduce copyrighted artwork.
