In post-Arthurian Britain, an elderly couple undertake a journey through a land where memory has been mysteriously erased. Published in 2015, The Buried Giant was Ishiguro's first novel in a decade. He described it as drawing on post-war reconciliation processes and the question of how communities survive the knowledge of what they have done to each other.
