Lynch's Booker Prize-winning novel compresses an apocalypse into a family story, its long, breathless sentences enacting the panic of a world coming apart.

Published in 2023, Prophet Song won the Booker Prize. Lynch drew on the history of the Irish Civil War, the experiences of Syrian refugees, and the gradual erosion of rights under various contemporary governments. The Booker judges described it as 'a warning and a lament.'
