The Booker Prize
Britain and Ireland's leading prize for a single novel written in English. These are the winners from 2000 onward.
Founded in 1969, the Booker Prize is awarded each year to what its judges consider the best novel written in English and published in the UK or Ireland. Until 2014 it was open only to writers from the Commonwealth, Ireland and Zimbabwe; since then it has been open to authors of any nationality.
Winning the Booker reliably turns a novel into a long-term seller and, often, a modern classic. The list below covers winners from 2000 to 2024; the prize's official site holds the complete run back to 1969.
