The Hugo Award for Best Novel
Science fiction and fantasy's best-known award, voted on by the members of the World Science Fiction Convention. These are the Best Novel winners from 2002 onward.
First presented in 1953 and given annually since 1955, the Hugo Awards are chosen by the attending and supporting members of Worldcon. The Best Novel category is the headline prize, honouring a science fiction or fantasy novel published in the previous year.
The list below covers winners from 2002 to 2025; the award's official site holds the complete run, including the genre's mid-century landmarks. Where a year is shared, both winners are listed.
