The Women's Prize for Fiction

One of the UK's most prestigious prizes, awarded each year to the best full-length novel written in English by a woman of any nationality. Winners from 2000 onward.

Founded in 1996 in response to an all-male Booker shortlist, the prize celebrates fiction by women and has done much to widen the audience for its winners. It was known as the Orange Prize (1996–2012) and the Baileys Women's Prize for Fiction (2014–2017) before becoming simply the Women's Prize for Fiction.

The list below covers winners from 2000 to 2025; the prize's official site holds the full run back to 1996. Barbara Kingsolver is the only author to have won twice.
